United Managers Japan Inc. is endeavoring to contribute to the healthy development of the Japanese financial industry by:
(1)
Offering the best operational environment for highly competent fund managers, and
(2)
Providing top class investment opportunities (advised by these fund managers) to domestic and foreign investors.
Presently, even though Japan is the world's largest creditor nation, it is hard to say that Japan’s corresponding asset management capability has come close to its economic potential. For example, there are more than 5000 hedge funds in America, but even with a recent increase in the past few years there are still only around 200 funds based in Japan. Especially when one considers that the size of Tokyo stock market is around one third that of the NYSE, an increase of more than 10 times the number of Japanese hedge funds is still small. So, does this mean Japan has a fewer number of people with the necessary operational ability?
I have participated in the securities investment business for more than 20 years since 1986, and I can assure you that we have many people who have world-class investment skills. However, with an inadequate business environment in Japan, it is a fact that many Japanese with 10 to 20 year’s experience disappear from the investment industry without having had the proper opportunity to show what they can do.
Our investment advisory company, with the purpose of changing this situation, has gathered together a group of people who have the ability to manage or advise on investments to the global standard. Each advisor has an excellent track record in his respective field and on average, has nearly 20 years of results and experience as an investment professional in Japan.
The aim of our business is to provide a top class operational environment to enable those advisors to perform to their highest ability, and to provide domestic and foreign investors with investment opportunities which provide high risk-adjusted returns.
We strive day and night to create customer satisfaction and trust, and to ensure our growth will help the development of the Japanese financial industry.
